Fun Day
This event is open to the public.

The community of Darkley are in for a treat this Saturday, 8th August, with the annual and extended Fun Day hosted by Crossfire Trust.

Volunteers from a local camp have joined forces with regular volunteers and staff members to promote a Fun Day that is cheap and affordable for all the family.  In fact, the first 50 children though the gates at 2 pm obtain a free token towards the many and varied activities.

Traditionally, the Water Slide, Crossfire Trust’s own version of “It’s a Knockout”, is a popular favourite, with the Sumo Wrestlers coming a close second.  This year the promoters are hosting a tour of the new business centre at 3.30 pm with complimentary Cream Teas served in the Training Room with scenic views of Fews Forest.

Crossfire Trust has been successful in obtaining the marketing skills of Magee College student, Ciaran McNally, who will capture the excitement of the day for a new promotion DVD which will assist the organisation to deliver its services to a wider public.

Recently honoured with the Queen’s Award for Volunteering, Crossfire Trust seeks to build up the community and respond practically to community needs.  “To help us achieve this, we are thrilled to have the services of Debt Counsellor Kathryn Thompson, who is hosting an introductory presentation to the public,” said Director, Ian Bothwell.  Kathryn’s service includes a listening ear, practical help, completing a financial statement and negotiating with creditors on her clients’ behalf.

Snack food will be available for purchase through the afternoon and the day concludes with a Barbeque at 7 pm.  Entry to the Garden Fun Day is free; it is part of Crossfire Trust’s new Restoring Hope programme which is a project supported by PEACE III Programme managed for the Special EU Programmes Body by the Community Relations Council/Pobal.
