From Belfast
Take M1 West
Leave the M1 at Junction 11 – Portadown and Craigavon. At the junction roundabout go straight across. You´ll then be on the M12. When this motorway ends (only a mile or so) you´ll go round a sweeping left hand bend with a T-junction at the end - bear left here and you´ll be on the A3 heading for Portadown.
Portadown - at the traffic lights go straight ahead (shopping centre car park on your left, railway station on your right).
At the next traffic lights go straight across, keeping in the “Armagh/Newry” lane.
At the next junction (200 yards) follow your lane round to the left.
After about a mile - big roundabout - take 2nd exit (right).
This is the A3 heading for Armagh.
After about 10 miles:
At Armagh:
First roundabout (just after Elim Church on right) – straight across.
Mini roundabout – first exit (signed “Keady A29” as you approach).
About ½ mile later you’ll approach traffic lights – get into middle lane (signposted for Monaghan A3 and Omagh/Enniskillen A28).
Keep to this lane (A3) through 2 further sets of lights in quick succession. At the second of these sets of lights, the PSNI Station will be in front of you and you will bear right.
Next set of lights – go straight ahead, but immediately after bear left for Keady A29/Monaghan A3
At end of this slip road, turn left – you’ll go past McAnerneys Garage and Supermarket (on your right).
Stay on the A29 for Keady (7 miles approx).
At Keady town centre turn left (signpost to Newry/Newtonhamilton). There is a stone monument on your right at this junction, and the Library will be on your left as you the turn.
At the edge of the town bear left at a mini roundabout, ignoring the Darkley 2 sign pointing right, and follow the Newtownhamilton road for about 2 miles.
Turn right at the next sign for Darkley - Darkley ½.
About 1/3 mile along this road you will see a big white and black House, and (hopefully!) you have arrived at Darkley House!
From Dublin
From Dublin take the N1 north to Dundalk.
When the motorway ends drive north through Dundalk and follow the signs for R177 Armagh. There will be a left turn at traffic lights on the way out of Dundalk.
The R177 will eventually become the A29 – stay on this road. After about 11 miles you´ll come to Newtownhamilton. Drive straight through the town and about 1 mile outside the town take the left hand turn, signposted A29 Keady.
After about 6 miles, look over the valley and see the mill village of Darkley, travel a further ½ mile look out for a sign pointing left for Darkley ½ . Turn left here. Darkley House is about 1/3 mile along this road, on your left (a large white house set back from the road).
If you miss the turn, you´ll end up in Keady, and you´ve gone 2 miles too far!
