Crossmaglen Community Festival - 30th Anniversary celebrations

Crossmaglen Festival

As part of our 30th Anniversary celebrations, we hosted a special market day community interaction on Friday 6 August in Crossmaglen Square.

The regular customers and stall holders at the usual Crossmaglen Market were surprised to arrive and see a marquee and banners, and once over the shock or suspicion, entered into the celebrations of long term commitment and community interaction.

Stories were told, burgers were enjoyed and donations given in appreciation. It was an opportunity particularly for men to offer the old-fashioned handshake and speak the words “Well done.”

Singer/songwriter Tom McConnell entertained the customers, visitors and well wishers, and even accompanied a local man who sang his own version of “Rivers of Babylon.”

The marquee and market environment provided a cultural and natural talking arena and we wish to build on this in December with our “Good Will to All” Christmas Special market day. We will have space in our marquee to host a Christmas fayre and this is open to makers of home crafts and products who wish to display under the shelter of our canvas.
