Never too old to volunteer
77 year old Don Hobbs from Southgate in North London joined over 50 volunteers at the Work Day at Darkley House on Saturday 5 May.
Don was one of a team of nine people, which included his wife Jenny, who came over from the Southgate Christian Fellowship in North London to spend the weekend working with Crossfire Trust.
Don who was on his fifth visit to Crossfire Trust said, “I enjoy mixing with the people of Darkley and helping Ian and Pauline in the work of Crossfire Trust. It is a privilege to be involved such a great work”.
Much of the day was spent working in the gardens of Darkley House, including tidying up the Peace Garden. A group of 29 from the 'Community of the King' who drove down from Belfast ensured that all the jobs which needed to be completed were done.
“Don and the team made a great impact on the grounds at Darkley House”, Ian Bothwell said. “The work done on Saturday will ensure that the gardens are looking good throughout the summer”.
